8 days..Sant fe? Scottdale? Palm Springs

WE are from Phila....My husband and I (mid 50's) are looking for some R+R over Easter. Have never been to Santa Fe or Palm Springs, but have been to Scottdale and Sedona. Can we do a couple of days in Santa Fe and the rest in Palm Springs/Desert? How would you split the time?

In our opinion (a couple in our 50s), Sante Fe is much more interesting than Palm Springs, unless you play golf or want to do nothing but lie in the sun. And the restaurants are better in Sante Fe, too.
From Sante Fe, you can also visit or spend a few nights in Taos and/or Albuqueque, both of which are worth seeing.

Hi there--I agree with mscarls and would choose Santa Fe over Palm Springs. We were there a week and in addition to a couple of day trips from Santa Fe took a trip up to Taos--can't say enough about the area--there's history, art, wonderful food, natural beauty.... we are a couple in our early 40's

I think it depends on what you are looking for. I agree that there are more things to do culturally in Santa Fe. (Restaurants, galleries, Native American culture)

Be aware, however, that the last time we were in Santa Fe over Easter, there was a big snowstorm. If you are planning to lounge by the pool with a good book or play golf, then Palm Springs would be the place.

you've already heard all the good reasons, but just had to chime in -Santa Fe is awesome. Very worth it and much more interesting, in my opinion, than the other places listed.

okay...definately Santa Fe, but my hsudand also wants some warm weather...so, since it is Easter (end of March what about 5 days in Santa Fe and then the other 4 days in...Scottsdale or Palm Springs. Any opinions on that?

That sounds doable, Deb. If you're renting a car in New Mexico, Scottsdale is only about eight hours from Santa Fe.
