In the mid 70s, there was a restaurant on Fillmore called "Don't Call if Frisco". We went there often.

From California, know many Californians, and nobody calls it Cali no matter what their age. I will even generalize that further to say I've never run into anyone in the West (and not the "Midwest" either which is really the MidEast) call it Cali. Maybe Ohio is the exception? But nothing to be proud of.

I have never heard my 20 year old son or his friends call our state Cali.

and I'm sure your teenagers and twentysomethings tell you everything. Come on, gang...I don't like Cali either but it exists so lighten up and get with it.

TTess- I can't speak for other kids, but my son and I are close. He tells me way more than I want to know. Maybe I should have him visit you...he goes to CSUMB!!

Seriously, I know "Cali" exsists, just like " San Berdo" and "Frisco". I don't use any of those slang words. I am more "with it" than some of my 50 something friends.

BarbAnn - Although I'm sure your son is any angel. I've got my hands full with a teenage daughter...I don't need yet another boy hanging around here. My husband already has a guard at the house armed with a shot gun. But, seriously, if you do ever need a mommy-type for an emergency, let me know.

..oh and regarding ~Cali~..UGH..that is a "non-resident's" way of referring to our beautiful state. I hate it.

A post SoCal resident...I agree with Adnil1962..LA to SF, skip Tahoe for another trip. Enjoy!

Cambria is a gem! Santa Barbara is a great stopping point.
