6 days--where to go from Florida?

I need some ideas for a vacation. There are 3 adults, we live in the Tampa area, and we have 6 days off. We want to drive somewhere, but don't want to spend our time racing from one place to another. We've seen the usual sights in Florida, like St. Augustine, Ft. Myers/Naples, Sanibel/Captiva, Sarasota, Gainesville area, Key West, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. We also have seen parts of Georgia (Helen, Calloway Gardens, Savannah, Atlanta). Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Charleston, S.C. is only about 7-8 hours from you and is a charming city. New Orleans would be another good option and would only be around 9 hours driving. You could easily spend 4 days in either without running out of interesting things to do.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have been to Charleston twice and to N.O. We'd like to try something new. Maybe somewhere in North Florida, or even Ala., Tenn. or Kentucky, if the driving doesn't take up much of the days. Any other ideas? Thanks!!

I have heard that Mobile, AL is very nice and have also heard good things about Augusta, GA. Not sure how far you want to travel or what your interest are, what about Memphis?

Mich-
Mobile is nice, but wouldn't fill 6 days. However you could throw in Fairhope and Foley areas in Alabama, and maybe stop off for a day or two in Appalachicola on the way there or back.

You might want to drive north along the gulf coast and spend a day and evening in Cedar Key. Its kind of off the beaten track and more old Florida. The Island Hotel has neat accomodations and great meals and there is a couple other good restaurants. Then maybe spend the rest of the time onthe Alabama beach section of the Gulf.

Beau Rivage Hotel/Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. And then drive 1 more hour to New Orleans.

Thanks so much for your replies. I think we'll combine some of the suggestions. We're looking at Cedar Key, Appalachicola, and Seaside. I don't know much about Augusta, GA, or the Ala. towns mentioned, but I'll look them up to see if they'll fit our schedule. Thanks again. If you have any suggestions of restaurants, things to do, etc., in these towns please let me know. Thanks!
