yes the advise above is right-and yes it is the local police generally who pull this scam off. But friends definitely have told me that is you say, "okay let's go to the station" or even if you ask the officer to right down his name and badge number they weill give up and go on to some other sucker

The only legitimate rentals for one week in NYC would be a self-contained apartment in a private house - which is very rare in Manhattan, although there are a few. I know there are a couple run as B&Bs - but that usually won't get you kitchen privileges.

Many of the suites at the Affinia group hotels do have kitchens though (several were originally apartment houses) and I believe the Beacon may have a couple of suites with kitchen. You would need to contact directly - and be sure it is a real kitchen, not just a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker.

Hi everyone! was hoping for your feedback on some nitty gritty details of our itinerary for the US part.

Nov 7th- arrive in Las Vegas after long flight from OZ, 15 hour time difference!, check into hotel and rest- 2pm

Nov 8th- visit sights on the strip i.e caesars palance ? others ?? visit some casinos at night, marvel at the ostentatiousness of some of the hotels (can you visit without gambling??)

Nov 9th - check out of hotel Aria in Las Vegas (any feedback?) and rent car, drive to Grand canyon south rim, stay at a lodge , Bright angel lodge- $94 per night grand canyon .

Nov 10- my 30th birthday! drive back after watching sunrise, rest then get ready for a nice night, check into the Bellagio

Nov 11- Leave for Mexico City. OR spend an extra day in vegas. is 4 nights too short considering we are changing hotels 3 times and will be jet lagged? It means cutting off a day in mexico city from 5 nights to 4 nights.

After mexico, 7 nights in NYC staying at hotel 31 on East 31st street in Midtown- is this a good area to be within the action and close proximity to subway, restaurants/bars etc?

leave on 4th December . I realise it will probably be too early to to a day trip skiing. what temps can we expect in NYC and is it normally rainy around thankgsiving? will there still be leaves everywhere seeing its end of autumn/fall.

thank you!!!

Yes you can absolutely visit without gambling. In terms of seeing things on the strip-once you get there you will see that there are many sights out in front from the strip you can see-Bellagio fountains, Treasure Island, etc. And various hotels many things inside as well usually mixed in with shopping areas Be sure to go downtown once to see the Fremont light show at night at well. The other thing Vegas is known for is its buffets. Here is a good site all about Vegas:

http://www.cheapovegas.com/

BTW Vegas is also famous for cheap hotels-depending on when you go you may find things as low as $15-$20 dollars, so be sure to shop around. I haven't stayed at the Aria but Bellagio will be great for a birthday celebration-you might even look into a 3 or 4 day package to see if it is affordable to just splurge and stay there the whole time. I would avoid trying change hotels too much in Vegas because if you stay at one of the larger mega places it can be a long process. I personally prefer the Venetian to Bellagio just because it is cool with the canals and has really large rooms, but everybody has their personal favorite.

The Cirque de Soleil show "O" is the best one of its kind IMO. It would make a great b-day treat.

Have you picked a hotel in Mexico ("DF" as you will hear it called) yet? When you do, let us know and folks who konw the area can give you opinions....
