30th b-day dinner in Napa Valley: Tra Vigne, Mustards Grill or Wine Spectator Greyston?

30th birthday dinner with 15 gals. Looking for good food (obviously), reasonably priced ($15-30 entrees), and fun atmosphere. Which would be ideal? Other recommendations are welcome.

Honey if I could have spent my 30th birthday in a restaurant with good wine, 15 of my gal pals in Napa Valley I would have welcomed 30 with a whole lot more enthusasism than I did! (I am only 31!) Enjoy! I never been to Napa Valley so unfortunately I cannot give you any rec's but it sounds like a awesome way spend the big 30!

Tra Vigne gets my vote. It's one of my absolute favorite restaurants and I live on the east coast! It's not terribly expensive, the atmosphere is fantastic. You really get the feeling of being in Tuscany there. My best friend lives in Mill Valley and still gets to Tra Vigne every couple of months or so. I saw her a few weeks ago in Nantucket and she told me she had just had lunch there 2 days prior (she knows how to make me jealous). As I recall the waiters were very good looking, which is always a bonus when you're out with the girls. Have a great time, I know you'll have a great meal and oh, Happy Birthday!

Janelle,

We dined at Tra Vigne and although the food was great, we thought it to be a bit stuffy. Might have been an off night??? Maybe 15 gals would liven it up a bit. Tra Vigne gave us the impression of Spago's (the who's who crowd). The CIA Wine Spectator is a good choice too, but we took the advice of many and dined there for lunch....it was awesome. Wasn't overly impressed with Mustards Grill and we were cramped next to other tables. If you are taking suggestions....how about Bistro Don Giovanni? This was our absolute fave place in the Valley for atmosphere and a very "lively" dining experience. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. If I were celebrating a banner birthday w/ 15 friends, this would be my top pick. You might all have a drink (or two) on the deck of the Auberge du Soleil overlooking the valley before heading out to dinner. Just a tip...make your reservations very far in advance, they book up quick. Bon Appetit!

If you choose Tra Vigne, I suggest that you request a table on the terrace. I'm wondering if DC sat inside, which IMO, did seem a little "stuffy". With such a large party, they may even be willing to put your tables in the courtyard if they don't have a party scheduled there.
