3 oz liquids restriction for carry-ons still in effect?
I thought I read that in 2009 airlines were going to roll back the restrictions of 3 oz liquids/gels in 1 quart size bag, but on the TSA's website it looks like it's still in effect. Is security still strict about this? We're flying Delta from Cincinnati to San Francisco and are only taking carry-ons.

It isn't the airlines place to 'roll back' or not. It is up to TSA.
3-1-1 is definitely still in effect. However - you sometimes don't have to pull the qt-sized baggie out for individual screening. At some airports you are allowed to leave the baggie in your carry-on - just make sure it is easily accessible if the agents want to see it.

There is a possibility that the restrictions will be lifted soon.
Kip Hawley, the Transportation Security Administration head, wrote in his blog Friday that by next fall, size restrictions on liquids and gels would be removed. On Tuesday, Jens Mester, a EU Commission spokesman, said he is confident carry-on liquid restrictions will be lifted as early as 2010 in the EU.
There are a number of technologies in play for a carry-on liquids scanning program, which could enable TSA to eliminate the liquid restrictions now in place.

Love the Clue connection with mustard and wrench! Had a good chuckle!
Packed up my little quart bags tonight... our 2 bags are stuffed full!
Isn't it true that you can have medicines and prescriptions in a separate bag that you show to security? Seems like I did that a couple years ago with liquid tylenol for my dd.

Again, the TSA web site covers all the regulations:

Medications can be separate.

Just today, three British terrorists have been convicted of plotting to blow up planes to Canada and the USA with liquid explosives. The judge said, apparently, had the plot not been foiled, the loss of life would have been worse than 9/11.

Since you asked for a 'yeah, I flew yesterday" account, Yeah we flew 3 weeks ago and the TSA agent took our 8 year old grandson's gel toothpaste. When he found out the bag was the little boy's, not the gray haired grandfather that was pulling it off the table, the agent turned all "sweet", talked to DGS and said he'd just have to take it.
