I've been so fortunate in my lifetime to have been to so many places (all 50 states, 5 continents) but there are hundreds in that 1000 Places book that I've not yet covered. They would have to include:

Sweden/Scandanavia (my ancestors)
Antarctica
African photo safari
St Petersburg Russia
Angkor Wat Cambodia
Singapore

Too many to try to name...

Enjoy your travels, everyone!

I have the book and have been fortunate to see many - but not all with husband. We are saving a lot of American sites for our dotage (coming too soon I am afraid) as many US places are more accessible. Bit the short list of dream destinations (next 10 years)
Great Barrier Reef (snorkeling)
New Zealand's South Island
Great Wall of China
African photo safari
Greece
Italy from Rome south

This continent:
Canadian Rockies
Alaska cruise and beyond

Okay, Since I have not seen so many places, I need more than 3 for my list!!!!!

Places yet to go in no particular order:
Bora Bora (Tahiti)
Austrailia
China (the orient)
England
Spain
Austria
Greek Islands
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Portugal
Yosemite National Park
Colorado-the rocky mountains
Canada (went as a child)
African Safari/Middle East (if the world ever calms down)
That is all I can think of off the top of my head. I think I need to get this book. Sounds like I will get even more ideas!

the GASPE PENNINSULA, quebec!! i can't believe no one knows about this. this is where Land's End is. it's the end of the AT. it is unbelievably beautiful. it should be on everyone's list of life experiences...to go there in october, when the leaves are changing color...is simply spectacular.

So many places, so little time.

Istanbul
Portugal
The pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela

are 3 places neither my husband nor I have visited yet that have been on our list for quite a while.

Interesting to see Petra on several lists. The day after we returned from a week long trip to Rome our 16 year old announced that Petra was his next choice.

rphsims1--I hope you have a great foliage trip to New England and that the leaves and weather are spectacular for you this fall. Conditions do vary from year to year.

I have been very fortunate to travel to a few different countries and every time I think about those trips, I get a smile on my face!

Three places to see before I die?

I would like to visit Chicago again as I haven't been since I was a wee lass.

Hawaii
Mt. Everest

My husband's list was:
Hike the Milford Track (NZ)
Climb the Great Wall of China
Visit Machu Pichu

We did all three with no regrets.

The places on my "list" that I have done are:
1. Pompeii
2. Hawaii (went to Maui)
3. African Photo Safari (can't seem to finish that one - I've been 6 times and go again in July)
4. NYC

On my To Do List are:
1. Terra Cotta Warriors in China
2. Grand Canyon
3. Alaska for bear photography
4. Egypt
5. Cuba (doubt this one will happen)
