25th Wedding Anniversay trip
Looking for resort ideas in US for 3 nights in July. We live in the south....I was planning to try a trip to Canada but it is a bit late to work all the plans.
We like both cities and nature areas. I was thinking of a spa/resort type since we have never done that before. We would fly out of Atlanta.

Here's something maybe a little different.
Grab a sleeper on AMTRAK and take the train to either New Orleans, or north to DC. You can eat, drink, relax, read and even honeymoon the whole way. All meals are included in sleeper rates (whatever you want on the menu).
Get a travel agent to recommend and book a good resort in either area, and each area offers a lot to do.

Seems to me for 3 days you'd want to minimize travel time. spafinder.com will help you locate spas in any area of the country.
Here's an article on the 10 most luxurious spas in North America.

NYC and Miami have some options and July prices would be gentle in those places.
