2 Chicago Questions
We are planning a trip to Chicago during the first week of July and had a couple of questions.
Can folks recommend a reputable and reliable sedan company for transportation to and from Midway into the city?
Also, any advice/suggestions about where to go/what to do to watch the fireworks on the 4th would be greatly appreciated. We've heard a boat ride might be nice--but are not sure which companies we should consider for this.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Sedan company? Are you going to be using a car in the city? Because if not you should just take a taxi if you have a lot of luggage or take the train if you do not (which is quick and only $1.75). It is not necessary to hire a car as there are always available and waiting taxis there to take you downtown.
Chicago generally does the fireworks on the 3rd of July, not the 4th, so be aware of that. Also, the park will be VERY crowded for the fireworks, people usually get their early and make a day of it to get a good spot (when I say crowded I mean over a million people squeezed in there crowded). Not to mention Taste of Chicago will be happening at that time to add to the chaos (braving the Taste of Chicago/fireworks gauntlet was a childhood family tradition, why? I'll never know
It is hot, sweaty, crowded, but ultimately a lot of fun, but be prepared for massive crowds.
The CAF offers great boat tours of the city. Here is their website http://www.architecture.org/tours.aspx
I've been on the Architecture Boat tour twice and enjoyed it both times.
Have fun.

Definitely take the train from Midway. It's very easy and will save you $30. For a great ride, take the water taxi from the Navy Pier to the museum/aquarium/planetarium ...they are all next to each other. Definitely more relaxing than a bus or cab ride. Took my kids to the Taste of Chicago a few years back, and it really is a total zoo!
