$2 charge to check bags curbside at DFW
I could not believe it!! I got dropped off at the curb thinking how nice it is that an airport is still allowing bags to be checked in at the curb only to find out it's $2 - PER BAG if I remember correctly!!!
Is anyone else aware of this happening at other airports?

American and United are both doing it and we have "put up' with it..that means all the other airlines will follow suit. American is also going to start charging for soft drinks on American Eagle flights ($1.00) out of LAX as a test. They are also considering charging for snacks, pillows, and blankets according to the 6 Jan edition of The Washington Post

I would think the curbside attendants wouldn't be happy about that, since some people of course will tip less or not at all if they're being charged already. But, like most things, I guess we'll get accustomed to it.

Guess Northwest is now charging $2.00 per bag for curbside checkin. Oh yes, I would always tip the porter...after checking to make sure the luggage tag has the correct airport code on it. One doesn't not want to irritate those fellows!

We just flew on Northwest yesterday (from Mpls) and checked our luggage at the curb and they didn't charge us $2 per bag. Is this new today? I had heard that American was charging $2/bag at LAX and the skycaps were upset as no one was leaving them a tip and they do not yet any of the $2/bag charge. That is a shame.

I guess I have to ask why NOT charge extra for a service that's costing the airports & airlines extra to provide? It's a SERVICE and a convenience.
But rather than charging for that, I wish the airlines would charge per bag thru the security checkpoint, where all the STUFF people drag onboard (rather than checking it) costs all passengers TIME going thru security, TIME boarding the aircraft, TIME disembarking, and even time trying to walk past them and their bathtub-sized bags enroute to the baggage pickup area.
I only wonder when onboard pay toilets will debut!
