1st time visitors to Texas

Hello. We will be in Las Colinas this weekend with our 12 year old for a hockey tournament. We would like to spend a little time getting to know Dallas with him. Any suggestions on things to see ,do, or dining would be very much appreciated. Thanks from Chicago .

The Texas State Acquarium is in downtown Dallas. I took my 8 year old there and he had a great time. You could walk to the "West End" from there. Lots of restaurants, some shops, etc there. A Mavericks game would be fun. You'd have to check the website to see if tickets were available. That's just two things that came to mind, hopefully others will have a few ideas.

Bernadette,

Strongly suggest you go to the Jerry Jones Museum. I believe it's on Ego Street. A perfect spot to visit while in Dallas. It has pictures and busts of former Cowboys coaches with detailed reasons why they were fired. Look for Emmit Smith's picture soon. Upon entry, you receive a free autographed picture of the Main Man Himself, Mr. Jerry Jones!!

Bernadette, you can also try...

Dallas has a couple of IMAX theatres... one in Fair Park and one in the suburbs, at Marsh Lane and I635.

The suburb of Grand Prairie has a couple of attractions... A Ripley's Believe it or Not, and a wax museum...

The American Airlines center just south of DFW airport has a Flight museum that's supposed to be good...

Have fun...
