I recently went to SF for my first time and really loved the Hyatt Embarcdero. Great location with easy access to good restaurants and the train to get to touristy stuff (Pier 39/FW/Ghiradelli Sq).
If you can, be sure to visit the Ferry building on a Saturday during the Farmer's Market. Lots of goodies, plus hit the Mexican restaurant (best MExican food I've eaten in a LONG time!) and the organic bakery for an out of this world organic chocolate cake.

Thanks, easytraveller. Since James Hilton's Lost Horizon, which introduced the name and concept of Shangri-La, was one of the first "grown up" books to enthrall me, I am glad that the name is in good hands.
Now I wonder if, since you say any brand of Limoncello will do, that means that you know the name is controlled to ensure certain standards of quality, or if you know that after a couple of sips, I won't care. I guess I'll just go find out.....
oceanblue, sorry to have led your thread astray. Did you look into our recommendations? Have you made a choice, or do you have further questions for us?

JBC411: Lost Horizon is one of my all time favorite books. I had to read it in High school(too long ago) and I have read it at least 5 times since. I recommended it to a friend and she thought it a bore. I am glad someone else loved it too... Always want to get to shangrila some day!!!
