17 Hr Layover in Honolulu 5:28pm -> 11am Worth it?
Hi there, I'm looking at this awesome itinerary to Seoul from Los Angeles and it has a long layover in Honolulu and Osaka; sounds like fun. I was wondering what my girlfriend and I would be able to do for the time in Honolulu? Would it be possible to have a good brief time like to hit up a luau and a beach? And do they owe us a Hotel room for that kind of layover?
Thank you!
Andrew
edit: cant post the screenshot of the itinerary because im brand new.

Personally, I am not sure I would want to spend a day of my vacation waiting for my plane to take off. Especially since most of the time will be at night or early in the morning. If it was reversed and you would be in HOnolulu during the day and catching the flight at night that would give you a chance to do and see things while places are open.

"awesome itinerary to Seoul from Los Angeles and it has a long layover in Honolulu and Osaka" I'm not sure what is awesome about this itinerary. Long layovers just make your getting there take longer and mean it will take you longer to adjust to the new time zone. There should be non-stops available from LAX to Incheon on multiple airlines.

There is a HI hostel about 5 blocks from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. 5:28PM Hawaii time is 8:28PM Pacific time. You should be able to get a quick swim at Waikiki and a cheap room (maybe dorms) at the HI hostel.
Lyft from the airport to the Waikiki area and return to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight to Korea.

How badly do you want a glimpse of Hawaii? Yes you could probably manage a luau (or at least dinner on the beach somewhere nice with some live music) in that time frame.
No the airline isn't going to pay for your hotel room but you could get somewhere relatively inexpensive like White Sands, Royal Grove, or Waikiki Sand Villa, if you really want to do this.
What's the luggage situation? Will your bags be checked thru? Or do you have to pick them up and recheck them?

The only reason I might take that itinerary is if it was saving a lot of money. And if I did do that, I would book a hotel for that night and enjoy a dinner and evening stroll around Waikiki. You'd have to check the times of any luaus, but I think it might be difficult to make it in time with a 5:30 pm arrival at the airport.
