my answer to what I would do in between is "hike my gluteous maximus off" in the places in btwn.
But perhaps before we offer suggestions we should ask why you are going to Moab, is it to hike?

If you click on my name, you'll find our 12 day trip report from Sept/Oct '04. We rented a 4wd vehicle so we could take many of the really fun backroads. Did lots of great hikes. Spent 2 nights each in Zion, Boulder, Torrey and North Rim and 3 nights in Moab. It worked out very well. You can see our pictures from this trip and the previous year's trip at www.pbase.com/peterb. We would love to hike, catch some raft or canoe adventure, and horseback riding.

We are planning to visit Zion, Bryce, and Moab, but we're not sure what to do in between these locations.

We'd love to hike a slot canyon. Does anyone have a good suggestion for that? Or for a rafting or canoeing adventure?

Several years ago we rented a canoe from Tex's Riverways in Moab. They took us to a put in point near Moab, and we canoed three or four days down the Green River through Canyonlands National Park to where the Green meets the Colorado River. Tex's staff then picked us up in a jet boat for a trip up the Colorado back to Moab. Of course, you need camping gear, but the canoeing was easy and the scenery stunning. It was probably my all time favorite vacation.

Tex's and another company in Moab also do day jet boat trips down the Colorado, but they're pretty noisy.

I see you are leaving from Las Vegas. In addition to the above mentioned Canyonlands trip, we also did a short canoe trip down the Colorado below Hoover Dam to Willow Beach. We took a couple of days, but you could do it in a day. I seem to recall it was about eight miles. The scenery was lovely, with some hot springs near Hoover Dam.

I can't remember the name of the company we rented the canoes from - they also provided a shuttle - but they are located near Hoover Dam.

a couple of interesting state parks we enjoyed are Kodachrome and Coral Pink Sands

Zion, Bryce, Scenic Hwy 12 to Torrey, Utah, Capitol Reef National Park and then Moab. Moab is a good location for a day rafting trip. If you want to spend time hiking and doing other activities then you won't want to spread yourself to thin going to to many locations.

Page, AZ is a good location for Slot Canyons.

You might want to check out Zion Adventure company for possible slot canyon hiking. They offer some great canyoneering in the Springdale, UT/Zion area. We did a family adventure day with them last summer which included rappelling and 'down hiking' that was just unbelievable. I think they do some type of slot canyons.

My two favorite areas: The Needles district of Canyonlands (in particular, the Joint Trail) and the Horseshoe Canyon section of Canyonlands (the Great Gallery hike is amazing). Both areas see far fewer tourists than some of the other places in southern Utah, and both have amazing scenery.
