10 Day Trip from Portland to San Francisco in July
My husband are planning a 10 day trip at the end of July flying into Portland and then driving the coast to San Francisco. We already have two nights booked in Portland, 2 nights in Cannon Beach and 1 night in the wine country. Is the wine country far from Cannon Beach. We're trying to plan day trips from those 2 areas, looking for fun excursions and then driving coast to San Francisco. Trying to plan an itinerary along the coast to San Francisco, which we plan on spending 2 nights in. Thanking you all in advance.

Assuming you mean the Willamette Valley wine country, it's located between Portland and the coast, so if it was me I'd go Portland > wine district > coast, rather than doubling-back. McMinnville is the logical "central point" for the wineries, although I'd mention that you can easily tour the wine areas as a day trip from Portland.
Hopefully your stay in Portland will give you enough time to visit the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood, along with the Hood River Valley. There are orchards, fruit stands, vineyards and lots of fun things to see and do, not to mention the famous and spectacular waterfalls lining the gorge walls.
If it doesn't, then I'd give serious consideration to revising your timetable to permit at least a full day in the Gorge/Mt. Hood area; a day and a half would be even better.
Here's an outline map of the route I'd take - https://goo.gl/maps/R3xh11aLyuv Some of the nicer places to stay overnight are shown - Yachats on the central Oregon coast and Bandon on the southern part, plus Trinidad CA just north of Eureka (or you could pick Ferndale, a pretty Victorian village, just south.) It includes the Avenue of the Giants byway, an easy side trip (parallel to US 101) that shouldn't be missed.
I'd allocate three moderate or four easy days to get from Cannon Beach to San Francisco on US 101. If you want to go by the (scenic but slow) CA 1 through picturesque Mendocino, add an extra half day to a full day. Note accommodations can book up quite early in late July and August, and some places require two-night minimums, so I wouldn't try to play it by ear on the lodgings front.

Portland to Cannon Beach is about 90 minutes and you head west. The main wine region is the Willamette Valley which is about 45 minutes SW of Portland. If your order of reservations is Portland, then CB then the WV, you could then just head straight back over to the coast after the wineries. Where are you staying in the WV? If you do this, you can easily see the north coast while staying in CB and then you wouldn't need to backtrack. We live in the WV right in the heart of wine country, so if you need help with more of this just let me know. Without knowing where you are staying it is hard to give more specific suggestions.

The Allison is beautiful! It is just a few minutes from our home and I am a regular at the spa
Staying there is a good location for checking out the wineries, and then you could go down to McMinnville and cut over to the central coast from there, which is only about an hour.

Thanks so much for all your help. Have one other question. What would you say is a good stop between Cannon Beach and San Francisco to stay for a night or two before getting to San Fran?
