1 week - 1 island. Thoughts?
So I'm starting to narrow down the planning for my honeymoon in late October. Because we will be in Hawaii for a week, I've been informed that sticking to one island is probably the better plan. SO, that leads me to which island.
Initially, we were planning on trying to hit Maui and the Big Island. Our goals are to get some days of relaxed/quiet beaches, scenic drives, hiking and a pretty spectular helicopter tour.
We wanted to get to Maui for 1) quiet beaches, 2) the scenic drive to Hana and 3) helicopter tour over to the north shore of Molakai.
We wanted to get to the BI for 1) hiking Mauna Kea and 2) Volcanoes NP.
So I'm hoping to get some advice. Because Mauan Kea and Volcanoes are pretty specific items, I'm wondering if we can find similar highlights to the ones I mentioned for Maui on the Big Island.
How are the helicopter tours on both islands? Where are the best places for quiet beaches and scenic drives on the BI? Any recommendations for accomodations and food are appreciated as well.

Have been to Maui twice. Loved it. Take the Trilogy catamaran trip to Lanai. Fun day of sailing, snorkeling and they serve you a great meal on Lanai. Cinnamon rolls on the way over and other special treats. They have a web site. Do a search for Trilogy Maui and check it out. (trivia, Bill Gates rented the whole island of Lanai for his wedding)

I would choose Maui over Big Island.
Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands. Just ignore the Oahu info:

I'd also pick Maui. It is a perfect honeymoon island!
The crater at Haleakala is a truly amazing thing, you should definitely add to your list.
If you are interested in seeing a show, in Lahaina, the Feast of Lele dinner theater or U'lalena at Myth and Magic theater both make for great evenings.

I too honeymooned in Hawaii but it was on Oahu over 15 years ago.
Personally, I prefer Kauai these days because it is laid back and not as busy and most certainly has plenty of things to do and see.
I do like the other islands and don't think you can go wrong with whichever you choose but I'd stick to ONE island if only for a week.
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is top notch and services both Maui and the BI.
