Multi-Country Tour
I plan to travel to Amsterdam, Brussels, Rome, Venice and Florence over 14 days next year. I am primarily looking for suggestions for hotels that would be safe for a solo travelling woman. I prefer smaller establishments if at all possible. Also any suggestions from those who have visited one or all of these cities would be appreciated. I am into museums, good food, and great architecture.

Unfortunately, I don't have any hotel suggestions for you, as I stayed in dirt cheap hostels when I traveled through Europe. However, I'm a little concerned hearing that you want to see so much in 14 days. Is this your first time to these cities? My first time in Rome I spent a week and felt like I barely had time to see the most important sights. Amsterdam also deserves quite some time, in my opinion. I've never been to the other cities you mention, but it seems to me that you'd benefit from either cutting down your list of places to go or traveling for a longer period of time.

In response, I definitely may cut down the Italy portion of the trip. I am very specific in my travels though, and I already know what I want to see during my first week, which will be Amsterdam and Brussels. I feel I will always go back again, so my intention is not to see everything, instead it is to experience specific things.

I have stayed solo at www.hotelkap.nl in Amsterdam and www.lacalcina.com in Venice.

I have to agree with the others. If you're certain you'll be going back to Europe, why not spend the 14 days in Amsterdam and Brussels (and the outlying areas) getting a full view of the cities, and then save Italy for a later trip?
You don't have to spend 7 days just walking in those two cities, you could plan for several day trips from each one.

Thanks for your input. I do appreciate the thoughts about my very tight time constraints. I still want do Amsterdam and Brussels over 8 days/7nights, BUT, I am open to just choosing 1 city in Italy (most likely Rome).......Keep coming with suggestions, they are all welcome.

Amsterdam is a very safe city - most hotels will be fine for a single traveller. I have lived here for 8 years and feel comfortable walking alone in most areas even at night.
Unfortunately as a resident I can't give much hotel advice!
You don't mention what month you are planning to travel - I would skip Venice in July/August and maybe just do Rome. But if you are travelling in Spring or Autumn (Fall to Americans maybe Venice and Florence would be the better combo for a week. I do think 5 cities is certainly at least one too many...
