Can you suggest places in the Caribbean or Florida that would provide quiet, relaxation, a beach to walk on, good food, for a woman in her 60's traveling alone who just needs a few days to recharge? where would she feel safe, be able to be in nature, and not be around loud partying or people trying to pick her up.

Belize? Not areas I personally care for, I (older female traveling solo) much prefer Europe and Asia.

I thought of Tulum...any particular place to recommend? I am also an older female traveling solo...and love Europe and Asia...am open to more specific suggestions..

Belize! I've been there with a cabin charter. I'm 25 but I was travelling solo and I looked for the same things: feeling safe, nature around me, not loud parties. Belize was wonderful!

The west coast of Florida. Sanibel Island, Siesta Key, Longboat Key are all good. All are south of Tampa.

The Buccaneer Resort on St Croix. A perfect self-contained, historic property with three beaches, tennis, golf, great food and wonderful service. The resident owner/manager is a woman; a descendent of the original owner.

As you say, you love Europe. Have you ever cycled? I too am in my 60s and have fairly recently discovered cycling vacations. I particularly like the bike-and-boat tours where I've met people from all over the world and most are in my age group. I love the sense of accomplishment, being out in the fresh air, interacting with locals and being absorbed in my own thoughts while cycling. Bermuda. Walk the Bermuda Railway Trail or the beach. Visit the Botanical Gardens. Stay at the Rosedon or Edgehill Manor in town. Take ferry rides. I am 68, travel solo to Bermuda every winter and have never felt unsafe.

Beachers Lodge right on the beach, five miles from St. Augustine. My daughter and I go there most years.

I'm a woman traveling solo, too, and would like to know where a woman in her 60's can go to get picked up. Had a good laugh at that one.

I think the answer to the OP's question, in my experience, is anyone who'd like to pick us up is too weak & decrepit to do it. The rest want someone else. On the other hand, maybe it's comforting to live in the past, as we're constantly accused of doing at this point.

Why not be the one to do the asking? One of the benefits of age, surely, is more confidence in the romantic sphere. And, not to be snarky, but what is there to lose??
