Planning to propose to my girlfriend. Help.
My girlfriend and I have been together for two years already. I have been wanting to propose to her to really settle down with her for good. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I was planning to propose to her in a foreign country. Somewhere very romantic yet unique. I thought of Paris but it has already been a mainstream for proposals. I want it to be special for both of us; something that both of us will never forget. Can you give me suggestions on the place and what I should do to make it special?

You asked for a "foreign country" but (other than France) you didn't say where you live so we don't know what other countries will be "foreign" to you and your girl friend. Just so you know, there are some 194 different countries in the world and that means there will be 193 different foreign countries, literally tens of thousands of different cities, towns & destinations to choose from - all of them might be considered "unique". You need to provide more info:
So:
1) Where will you be traveling from ?
2) When are you planning to travel?
3) How long a trip are you planning?
4) What type of budget do you have for airfare?
5) What type of budget do you have for accommodations?
6) What type of "weather" do you want? For instance, if a skiing trip you want snow, if swimming you want warm temperature!
7) Other than "proposing" what type of activities interest you and your girlfriend?
8) You wanted someplace "unique" so define what you think is "unique".
Don't discount Paris - the City of Lights is one of the most romantic in the world. And, speaking of "romantic", any place can be "romantic" when you are there with someone you love.
Assuming you are not from the US you might find Rome is another fantastic city as are places like Quebec City, Florence, Venice, Prague, Dubrovnik, Buenos Aries, Marrakech, Budapest, Kyoto, Cape Town, Sydney, Charleston, Bruges and many, many more - the list is almost endless.

How can you possibly know whether a place will be 'special' for both of you if you haven't been there yet? Is here not a special place the two of you have been together or a special memory or a place the two of you have always dreamed of visiting?
>> . . . what I should do to make it special?<<
You know her, we don't. Sorry, but that's the fact.

If you are considering something romantic, there are popular places considered romantic which you can start some research:
1. Santorini, Greece (which is in my Favourites and also consider romantic)
2. The Maldives
3. Florence, Italy
4. Mallorca, Spain
5. Koh Thao, Thailand
6. Quebec City
Good Luck

The Great Wall is romantic, though the symbolism isn’t great. Or Machu Picchu is a beautiful setting if you beat the crowds. Hopefully the altitude wouldn’t get to her. With a blistering headache she might say no.
A cruise through Istanbul? Europe joins with Asia?

If you really want to make it romantic to her when proposed, you should first know her choice or place of interest. As you mentioned, you guys have been together for 2 years now, I presume you must have been familiar with her interests. Choose a place wisely and believe me, it doesn't have to be a foreign country but a place where she feels great joy to spend time with you. Just give your best shot with pure heart and it will work out. The more drama you bring in the more difficult it would be to get a "YES" as an answer. Good luck anyways.

I believe that it is not so important which city you choose, how important is the atmosphere that you create. If your girl loves romance, you can cover the place where you will make an offer of rose petals, invite musicians (violinists for example). They would play some romantic melodies, and you would at this time tell her about your feelings and intentions.

How about the Amalfi Coast and Capri? Super romantic and plenty of fun things to do.
Paris is the ultimate romantic city, as is Venice!
I also think Santorini or Mykonis in Greece would be a lovely place to propose.... the list is endless really.
