London, Salzberg, and Venice are my favorite cities in Europe, so I highly recommend them, but I'm sure you'll enjoy anywhere that you decide to visit. I agree with Suze, pick 3 cities to focus your itinarary on, and then you can take day trips to smaller villages. To help you get started with your planning, go to Barnes and Noble or Borders one night, have a cup of cofee/tea, and read tons of guidebooks to help you decide where you want to go. My favorite is the Eyewitness Top Ten series that covers most major cities. They make it very easy to process the best that each city has to offer. Then once you decide on your 3 cities, make yourself a list of the things that are the most important to you to see and do. Take a look at a map of each city and find out how close the things that you want to see are to each other. That will help you plan your days and avoid backtracking to do something that you could have done along the way to your next stop. Taking trains is a great way to see more of the countries that you'll be in. Bon voyage!!
