photo storage until we get home
On past trips, my husband has moved photos from his camera to his computer and, for backup, onto DVDs as well (a nuisance!). This trip, he would like to go without the computer. He would normally take a Nikon, using a CF card. He could take a Cannon, using an SD card. He likes to shoot in RAW rather than JPEG. Does anyone have suggestions for storing the photos off camera until we return home?

I currently store to an iPad. In the past I have also stored to an iPod using a connector I bought in an Apple store. The other alternative is to get a card reader and store either to a memory stick or online to Flickr, iCloud or Skydrive etc. depending on where you are going there should be plenty of computers to use either in hotels or Internet cafes.

I second what crellston says. Memory sticks would work.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet right before our trip to Europe this past May. My husband usually takes his computer to store his photos as well but this time we used my tablet. It worked out well because I have an extra 32GB of memory in my tablet. He also used the memory sticks as additional backup.

I think the key here is the fact that he shoots in RAW, not JPEG. That affects how much storage is needed and where it can be stored.
For example, a lot of online free storage sites will not accept RAW files from you. So suggestions based on storing JPEG are not necessarily applicable.

His best bet sally might be to transfer the files to a 'cloud' if possible but I am not an expert. I really think this forum is not the place to find the answer. Better to try on some decicated photography forums.
