Yes, I agree, that is the problem with tours, but sometimes they can't be easily avoided, such as in your case.

For the money you each paid, he should have been able to see the snake and you should have been able to see the lion.

I have a friend who didn't want to take a guided safari tour and drove around in a jeep, which broke down in a reserve....and, well, it is a long story!

Ryan, I am not explaining myself well. I agree with you in saying that tours cannot be everything to all the people involved, which is their downside. If a person plans his own trip it is his own.

I understood the point SeaUrchin. The downside of a tour, as I probably did not overtly point out in my orginal post, was that you're beholden to the wishes of the group. Even if that group sometimes turns out to be one, loud person.

I think it's tough getting a large group of people to agree on what pizza they should order. So naturally, when in a group setting on a tour, there are going to be times when not everyone will get what they want. Even if sometimes is the vast majority that doesn't get what they want.

We just came back from a Globus tour of Italy and Greece...I can't say enough about the tour, the places we were able to see without standing in line...the absolutely phenomenal organization...getting in and out of our hotels, stops etc...Our group was very diverse..most were great...an opportunity to dine with people you would never take the time to get to know in a different setting...an appreciation for differences, genuine respect for one another (well almost). Without a doubt though, what made the tour most successful was our knowledgeable, caring, tour director, who truly enjoyed sharing her expertise in a warm caring way! There's not enough time left in my lifetime to see all of the sights and learn what I did on my own! Thank you Rosie!
