Need May 2008 Honeymoon Ideas

Looking for a two part honeymoon-we want to relax on a beach one week and have something a little more active the second week. Our thoughts are all over the place.. We live in NY and want somewhere exciting to go that wouldn't be a quick trip that we could do in a week another time. Any suggestions? I can tell you we have been to Rio, Costa Rica, Amalfi Coast (Capri), Dubai, London, Paris, Hawaii, Germany and other European cities. We also have a very nice budget to work with. I am excited to see the responses!

Africa.

It's a big continent. Safaris are the "in" thing. Post on the Africa/Middle East Board... lots of information regarding areas, where, where, accommodationns. On the coasts are resort islands.

Read the East African Trip Index with many trip reports. There's also a Southern Africa Trip Index, though not as many reports. Lots of links also to pics - game and accommodations.

Costs in all price ranges. If you want lux you can get plenty of lux.

I agree with the Africa nod - do a safari and then head off to Maritius, Seychelles or maybe the Maldives (if you're okay with a longer flight). We did the Seychelles for our HM and loved it - 2 weeks of just being pampered. Amazing!

Or - Asia! Plenty of great beach places combined with exciting cities. We did 2 weeks there this summer and it was even more incredible than our HM. We did 3 nights HK (with a side trip to Macau for the evening), 3 nights Phuket, 3 nights Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle (would've added a 4th night there to be able to do a day trip to Burma), 3 nights Bangkok, 2 nights Tokyo. We did the "best of the best" and it was pricey, but absolutely unforgettable!

My 3rd suggestion would be South America - although I'm not 100% sure of the weather that time of year. Iguazu Falls or cruising down the Amazon, a stop at Carmelo, Uruguay and then doing the city thing in Buenos Aires or Santiago (with great side trips, like skiing in the Andes, wine tasting in Chile, etc.) You could really splurge there as well and not totally break the bank. Plus, no real jet lag - which is definitely a great thing!

Thank you for all your ideas. We still haven't decided. We don't want to travel anywhere that immunizations are recommended right now. So although Africa and Asia sound amazing we will have to wait on that. I have to say too we were in Capri/Amalfi Coast this past August so I am finding it difficult to come up with a honeymoon destination that could top that!! Other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I would definitely recommend Sorrento to stay. May is the best month to visit this lovely place. From there you can do many excursione to the Amaalfi coast, Capri ( altough you have already been there ..there are a lot of things to see and do ) Naples and so on. After few days in Sorrento, I would go down to Sicily, maybe Taormina.

For hotels in Sorrento try the Manniello Hotels. They are superb.

Good luck

Bora Bora! You can relax all you want and then also do lots of water activities -- snorkelling, scuba diving, parasailing, jet-skiing.

Most people do Australia and then Bora Bora before heading back to the US.

Hi
If you would go to Europe I would recommend Tenerife (Canary Islands).
They have the best weather in the world - according to NASSAU.
The mountain Teide is fantastic - just like a moon landscape.
For a romantic wedding or honeymoon you should go to www.ritz-resorts.com
It's in the south of Tenerife - just outside Las Americas. The staff is very friendly and the suites are huge and very nicely furnished. Or you could choose to stay in one of their romantic villas with your own swimmingpool in the garden. They also have www.Ritzgolfandcountryclub.com in Tenerife (Spain). These hotels has nothing to do with Ritz Carlton.

Have a nice honeymoon

I am from Germany and felt in love with an italian boy .
I would suggest you to have a trip in italy, Tuscany. The first week you can stay on the elba island to take sun bathes , snorkeling or boat trips, and then go to Florence, Pisa, and Siena. If you need some help write to
www.elbatuttanatura.com or
www.hotelilio.com
