luggage opinion
I need to purchase a new suitcase for upcoming 8 day Paris trip. I like my large duffel style bag, however it is a Vera Bradley and not wheeled so I'm afraid it would not hold up.
Any suggestions on a good, not too pricey brand that can hold alot. I only want to check one bag and take one carry on.

I think you almost have to have one with wheels. Do you have Luggage4Less stores near you? They have a good variety and you can walk around the store with them. Even Target has some nice Swiss rolling duffels, I bought a nice little wheeled carryon there before this last trip (the one for 59.99). They carry Eddie Bauer ones too which look nice.

I've had good luck buying luggage at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Tuesday Morning (which now has a very good sale going on). I like to look at the luggage first, open it up, and wheel it around before buying, so I can't recommend any catalogues. One thing I'll say, though. Check the exact measurements for carry-on luggage on the airline and airports you'll be using, and bring a tape measure with you to the store. Better safe than sorry because not all carry-ons are the same size. Just like they say "a miss is as good as a mile," so is an inch when it comes to what's allowed on the plane.

I purchased a great rolling luggage at Goodwill for $14. I dont think its a major brand name, but it was a great deal, large, and has lasted many trips. If you're tight on cash, try goodwill or salvation army. I always see luggage there.

Thanks for the info...I knew about the 50lb limit but I did not know about the measurment issue. Thanks mermaid. I have checked at the Tuesday Morning here and have been underwhelmed at the selection. Off to Target.
Ouch gotravel...My Vera Bradley happens to be quite fetching. Besides, it is easy to spot on the turnstyle

I have a 22in Nautica wheeled duffle, and I love it. It's bright yellow, and you can't miss it!
I'm going to post a link to one, but, I did NOT pay $169 or whatever stupid price this site is asking. I got my at either Ross or TJMaxx, and paid no more than 30-40 for it. But this gives you an idea.
I packed for a 10 day Italy trip in it, and did just fine.
