Need suggestions for trip in July/August for family of 6, youngest kid is 19. Departing city is Philadelphia, we have 9 days, a good budget and don't want to lose too much time traveling.

What are your interests? A "good budget" doesn't actually explain much, can you be a bit more detailed? $6,000 total is a good budget but really isn't much if that is to include airfare as well. An amount per person and if it includes airfare or not really helps.

Can the four kids split two rooms or does each need their own room? An apartment tends to give you a lot more options and space, but may be hard to find in some areas. Do you want beach, city, some combination?

Costa Rica, Carribbean, London, Paris, Rome.

London is a fairly short flight from the east coast and would allow you to stay together for some activities, and to be apart for others. 9 days would give you 7 non-travel days and that's plenty of time to get a good grip on London but not enough time to get bored. You could probably combine London and Paris, though an extra day or two would really help that idea. Otherwise, combine London (or Paris) and a few day trips.

If you're interested in more ideas about a specific country, then take your question to that country's board and you'll get a lot more response. Or just leave it untagged and post it to the Europe board and you'll get all kinds of ideas for Europe.

We like to hike, golf, scuba, shop, sail, music festivals, kayak, horseback, less interest in museums, tours. kids have been to London, Paris, Italy post college and yes, they can split 2 rooms. Beaches are easy answer but I want to avoid them sitting and drinking all day so I want some combination of beach & city. They have all traveled alot so its challenging for me to come up with ideas. Any suggestions are helpful, no budget restraints at all. Thought about chartering a boat in Alaska but 2 get sick on boats so we bailed. Also thinking about 4Seasons in Nevis but not sure enough to do there and not easy travel to/from PHL airport.

jcmmdr, you'll have better luck finding an answer about the Greek Islands if you go to the right board to ask. There's very little traffic on this board so the chances of your question about the Greek Islands being seen by people with good info are pretty slim.

Sorry I didn't have any other ideas for you. Good luck!
