50th birthday to somewhere warm

our friend turns 50 in february 2010 and wants to go somewhere warm (we live in atlanta). she also likes to shop, hang out by the pool or beach and have good restaurant options. we've done south beach and costa rica -yes, totally different - for other occasions. where to go?

Hello kecox, Puerto Vallarta on the west coast of Mexico is fabulous during the month of February. We often went there to get away from winter and also to celebrate my husband's birthday which was in February. Fantastc weather, an abundance of restaurants, pool and beaches are wonderful weather wise etc.

Puerto Vallarta is my favorite spot in Mexico too! Cabo San Lucas also has what she's looking for as is very nice. Both places have beautiful weather in February. I also like Hawaii (Waikiki), but obviously that's a much longer trip for her from Atlanta.

The Riviera Maya is great. Lots of new hotels and easy to get to.

Part of my 50th celebration this year was going to Bali. Beautiful beaches - some of the best restaurants I have ever been to - tons of shopping, friendly people, great spas, & very inexpensive.
