We are in Mendoza now but we were in BA last week. We were going to go to Cafe Tortoni for the tango show but read reviews that were not very good. We ended up going to Tango Porteno. I can't tell you how good it was. Very professional with a wonderful band, dancing and singing. We didn't understand the Spanish narrative but they showed pictures of BA over the years mixed with the show. It was really very good and the theatre was beautiful as well. I understand it is a fairly new show (not sure) so not many people may know about it but the reviews were good on travel websites and we recommend it highly.

Av, another southern "ism" - you are a hoot--(funny)
I can't get the youall out of me after all these years so I am keeping it! Thank you again for all your great info, suggestions, links and private emails. Very special.

Neilbit, I will look into your suggestion, but with only 48 hours I've decided to just let everything happen - walk, look, talk, and see what I find within the 2 days. I love to just explore

Leaving tomorrow for a "girls" trip so will not have access (oh lordy, no!) to internet; but Happy 2011 to everyone, especially those who have taken so much time to help not only me but so many others here and over at TA!

Gracias.

Hi Moneyburns, we seem to be on the same course in the world this year!

Three weeks ago, we really enjoyed a very touristy show called Tango Portena, but then again we are tourists at heart & proud of it!

It came with dinner, which we all enjoyed and a fabulous show after. Wasn't cheap, but I'd do it again.

Great topic, Moneyburns.

Marnie, I appreciate your mention of avoiding Viejo Almacen, which I was considering on my short list. Warnings are just as important as recommendations.

Has anyone gone to Esquina Homero Manzi recently? If so, please give feedback. Can't decide which one(s) to select.

Again, many thanks!

Carole
