Valparaiso Hotels - which one to stay in March??
Any opinions:
Hotel Acontraluz
Room facing the street with no balcony.
Excellent reviews, 3.5 stars and no AC - but sounds like we don't need it
Maybe more of a hike up the hill?
Or
Grand Hotel Gervasoni
Superior room with balcony for less money
Mixed reviews, 4 stars, has AC and looks very cool in the photos.
Looks like less hill climbing to hotel, but can't really tell
Any thoughts would be very helpful?

I don't know either hotel but agree with NFZ . Valparaiso is all about hills so You will have to get used to that regardless of where your hotel is! As I recall, aircon was not needed when we were there.
We stayed at http://www.bblanona.com/en/home.htm a simple B&B a few years ago and had a great time. What made it for us was that the owner, Rene, was so helpful that he made our stay even taking us horse riding. It is a fascinating place and we really enjoyed our time there. Some photos on our blog

Entry no. 66 and 67 for the horseriding trip near Vina del Mar

Thanks everyone for your feedback. A couple of things I should have mentioned in my original post.
On Trip Advisor only 69% said they would stay at the Gervasoni again, where as, Acontraluz had a 96%. So Gervasoni looks better on paper except for the reviews. I was hoping someone who was familiar with the 2 hotels would post.
Also I picked these 2 hotels because we have some requirements:
1) King Sized Bed - both have
2) Walking distance to main areas of Valparaiso - both are
3) AC - only Gervasoni has, but others told me AC isn't really needed
Thanks, Inor

I hate to go against your desire to stay in Valpo...but we throughly enjoyed a lovely small hotel in nearby Vina del Mar. Vina is sparsely populated by comparison with Valpo, has a large casino and several restaurants. Hotel Oceanic....walk into downtown Vina.(not a hill in sight). We had the pool to ourselves. Very low rates.
