Sendas Busline From BA to Mendoza
As opposed to flying between BA and Mendoza, I am thinking of the overnight bus. From the little I have been able to find on it, the Sendas Line sounds great. Anybody with some feedback on this? Thanks!

Seeksocean,
Here's a link that will help. http://www.omnilineas.com/
It's in English. Notice the comfort classes. The cama and semi-cama are close to airline business class seats. Play around with the various internal links to get an idea about service and what to expect and how much it might cost.
This is an overnight type of bus ride, but it does save on having to pay for a hotel for the night.
Also, there were several threads many months ago on fodors that talked about bus travel to Mendoza.

i just completed making my bus reservations for this very same trip today....cost in royal class (or some similar name--the highest class) cost 741P for the two of us...
i used mawa travel SA which i found on the internet in some talk room....they have a phone number in miami which i made my initial contact through---just looked but i must have thrown it away, but i have matt's (matias's e address)---he is the guy who actually made the res for me...
he is matias [email protected]
his english is excellent and he was perfect to work with.. he is going to deliver our tickets to the marriott in BA next week to us and i charged them on a credit card. i did have to fax (or e mail) permission for them to charge the account...
he offers a number of different bus companies and will pick the best one for you....the prices seem all about the same...
we travel on april 18, and while we do not look forward to it, we are glad to not be paying $300+ each to fly there...

Thank you Thank you Thank you! Would you please get back to me after your bus experience and let me know how it went? We don't go until late December, but everything in our travels is times six and we need to book way in advance. Taking the bus, we figured, would save us collectively hundreds of dollars. Are you on Tripadvisor, where I could send you a message?

FYI. We took the bus from BA to Mendoza end of December '08. We used Andesmar. We reserved our tickets on line (30 days in advance or less). Used the highest category with a reclining seat that converted to a bed with a pillow and blanket. Dinner and breakfast plus wine were included in the price. We paid around US$60.00 pp. We left BA around 8:00 pm arrived in Mendoza around 9:00 am. I slept much better than I do on planes, that's for sure.

Treesa, Thanks! Andesmar looks great! I'll have to contact them a little earlier than next November, since everything is times 6 for us...I want to make sure we all get on the bus! Where did you stay in Mendoza? We are going back and forth between in the city and out in the country (Casa Glebinias looks wonderful). I noticed that Andesmar had 3 night packages including hotel. What do you think of that as a value? Thanks for all!

We stayed at the Cordon del Plata in Mendoza. Very basic hotel in the center of town. We did not rent a car so staying at out of town estancias was not practical. We happened to be in Mendoza on 12/31 and 1/1/09 so we didn't have too many options as far as hotels were concerned. By the way, if you are planning on taking any excursions don't bother pre-booking, since it's much cheaper to use one of the numerous travel agencies right in town. I happen to have the website of the local tour company if you are interested.
Cheers.

Treesa, Definately interested in the name and info of the company. Also, with this economy, we are starting to think maybe less expensive places (around $100-$120 USD) to stay might be good. How much was your place? Did you see other places that you would have rather stayed at?
And about New Years Eve....what was that like there? Where do you think a better place to celebrate (low key style) would be? Thanks again. Your advice has been invaluble.

I met some people who were staying at the Huentala Hotel Boutique and they liked it. It was around $100 per night including buffet breakfast. The website for the travel agency we used is www.cubasderoble.com.ar. We did the High Andes all day tour which exceeded my expectations. I regret we did not have enough time to go river rafting.
As far as New Year's Eve... We wanted to join a community celebration at a park, with food, wine, fireworks, camaraderie but no such thing existed according to the locals. They referred us to a restaurant and a show but we were too tired and too lazy to dress up so we got some food at a supermarket and had a private party in our hotel room. We were fast asleep before midnight.
