Has anyone stayed in Leblon?
Is it easy to get around from there? I am a solo (female) traveler - not young. More interested in food, drink, and music than the beach , though that's nice, too..
I do speak the language a little.

You shouldn't have any problems "getting around" from Leblon. It's right next to Ipanema, a longish walk from Copacabana. The area is quite upscale with great restaurants and shops. Cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. Enjoy Rio.

Taxis are also plentiful. When boarding one, make sure that it has a meter and the driver turns it on prior to take off.
Leblon is upscale and beautiful. I went to that new and wonderful shopping center that's there and was amazed by the ambience, the modernity, the uniqueness of the shops and displays, and almost everything about the place. I went on a rainy day, thus thought this was the right time to go. Do take some time out to do this even if you're not a shopper. I enjoyed my experience amongst the monied cariocas.

Leblon is an excellent place to stay. Rua Dias Ferreira is filled with upscale shops and great restaurants such as Sushi Leblon and Celeiro among many others.
As a single woman traveler, I would definitely suggest hiring a good guide for at least your first days in Rio. You will get a lot of inside information that will be invaluable to insure a wonderful time during your stay.
