Restaurant ideas in Lima for my birthday
I'm hoping someone can suggest a place to eat out in Lima, our second night there will be my birthday. I don't want to go anywhere fancy, as my husband and I will have our 9 & 11 yo with us. Somewhere with great atmosphere and lovely food? We will be staying in San Isidro. Thanks

I'm by no means an expert on Peru, but Larcomar has a number of restaurants that would be good for kids. Some of them are the usual chains but there are others that would be more specific to Peru. The setting is really nice - the mall is built into the cliff overlooking the ocean.

We were only in Lima for a few nights, so didn't get to a lot of places. (Loved Maido and IK, but I wouldn't say that they were family restaurants.) One place that I wanted to try was La Mar Cebicheria. It's only open during the day, but apparently the ceviche is fabulous.
Panchita's is also supposed to be good. It's another Gaston Acurio restaurant, and I think it's more traditionally Peruvian.
Another place that the kids would likely enjoy (and we also enjoyed) was Papacho’s – Gaston Acurio’s hamburger restaurant. Servings are enormous (way more than I could eat) and the burgers were pretty good. Not Peruvian maybe, but it seems to be popular with the locals.

I just went to Saqra on my layover. It has a bar/lounge vibe, not sure it's what you are looking for with kids. I had one dish (not that hungry after my lunch) and it was fine, interesting actually.

I don't know how you feel about buffets, but El Bolivariano has been recommended to me by a few Peruvians, including most recently my driver from taxidatum (Sundays for the buffet). http://elbolivariano.com/es/buffet-criollo/
Punto Azul is now open 7pm -midnight according to their website for their Calle San Martin location. I liked them, fun atmosphere and family friendly. You can reserve for night times but may need to call, not email.

Thanks migb, I'll check those out. I've actually just watched a video of La Rosa Nautica, and although the food may not be the focus, the view and atmosphere have hooked me, so I'm thinking of going there. Although it may be near Mistura and therefore a busy spot.

No it isn't near Mistura. Mistura is at the north end of the coast, and Rosa Nautica is on the coast in Miraflores.
If you are at all interested in the food and service, Rosa Nautica may disappoint. It's probably similar to all the other pier restaurants in the world in that regard, unfortunately.
There is expensive that's worthwhile, and expensive that isn't. From the comments I've heard, the latter applies.
