Question regarding hotel reservations and late arrival times into Lima
Hello to all,
I apologize for the likely ignorant nature of my question but the only time I visited South America before was to Argentina and the flight had been overnight so we arrived in the mid-morning (i.e. standard European style).
I'm looking into possibly traveling to Peru next year. I notice that most of the flights into Lima arrive either mid-evening (9ish) or much closer to the midnight hour. There was one flight for instance that arrives five to midnight. How does that work out for your hotel reservation? i know hotels worldwide have their check-in times, but obviously if you're arriving in almost what is the middle of the night, you don't want to have to wait 12 hours to check in (I mean I know I would be exhausted after a lengthy flight) so do you make a reservation for the day you are officially arriving (even if once through customs and the time it takes to get to your hotel, it's the next business day?)
Thanks to all who respond!

The hotels in Lima are used to the midnight arrivals since that is a busy time for international flights. You will pay a full days rate though, even if you arrive at 1 am, since they are holding that room for you all night. To clear up misunderstanding include a note that you are arriving at midnight and what your anticipated checkin time is. Also, many of us suggest asking your hotel to arrange your pickup at Lima airport. Most hotels can do that and it's nice to see someone holding a sign with your name when it's your first time into Lima.

You always have to reserve for the night
unless you want to sleep in the airport or
can get admission to one of the lounges
via your carrier best for budget.
Ramada Del Sol best pretty expensive at the airport.
hmanhattan.com 5 minutes away decent moderate
hotelsanantonioabad.com free xport to
mirafloresperu.com best area.
If you are flying out early the next day
would just stay at the airport otherwise
MiraFlores is a tonne nicer.
