Best,
J & C
OUR ITINERARY:
Day 1: LIMA
Day 2: CUSCO
Day 3: CUSCO
Day 4: CUSCO
Day 5: OLLANTAYTAMBO
Day 6: OLLANTAYTAMBO
Day 7: AGUAS CALIENTES
Day 8: AGUAS CALIENTES
Day 9: CUSCO
Day 10: Back to States
Day 1: Lima
Flew into Lima early morning. Our flight was packed and off-boarding took forever. Might've been the reason why we missed our cab sent by the hostel. We manage to grab an official airport taxi (Green Taxi) showed him our hostel address and agreed on a price before hopping into his cab ($20US -- our hotel was in Miraflores). Placed our baggage in the trunk, locked doors, and headed off.
Arrived Flying Dog Hostel - Miraflores branch about a 30 minute drive. Unloaded and hit the streets. Explored on foot the Miraflores area.
We caught the Limavision Night Tour that started at 6pm. We toured central & downtown Lima on a private bus narrarated both in English and Spanish. Tour took us thru several different neighborhoods and districts. We were supposed to stop and see the WATER LIGHTSHOW thats supposed to be super popular, but due to maintenance, it was closed. Then the tour ended with a dinner and a show. The show was particularly great! Although the buffet dinner was a little disappointing.
From dinner, we decided to hoof it back to the hostel which was 4 blocks away from what we could gather after asking for directions. We were advised when landing in Lima to visit a pharmacy to purchase soroche pills in lieu of our pending Cusco visit tomorrow. So we grabbed the pills and find a place next to our hostel to sit outside and people watch while I get my first cocktail in Peru.
Threw in the towel about midnight-ish. Our next flight to Cusco: 5am!
HOTEL REPORT:
Flying Dog Hostel - Miraflores (Martir Olaya Branch)
www.flyingdogperu.com/
$35 a night for a private room with private bath
Our room had a GREAT view of Parque Kennedy. Bathroom was immaculate.
Had a TV and a large fan. Bedding was very clean and room well-kept, great size, and comfortable. The hostel itself was well-maintained and clean. Had internet and computers available to use. Had an in-house travel agent. 24-hr front desk service. Clean and maintained kitchen and a great backyard. Centrally located in the Miraflores area.
AREA REPORT:
Miraflores, Peru

Bustling nightlife filled with cafes, bars, lounges, storefronts and restaurants. You can't go wrong with Miraflores. We found it very safe to walk around. We got home from our tour around 1130pm, managed to walk 4 blocks from the restaurant on the main drag, visit a pharmacy to buy some soroche pills, stop by a cafe/bar for some coffee and pisco sour.
TOUR REPORT:
Limavision (Lima Lit Up Night Tour)
http://www.limavision.com/
Cost: $55/pp
Overall the tour was ok. Again, the water/light show was closed...so that might've been why our experience was so-so. Traffic in Lima is bad (not as bad as LA) so we hit alot of stops. Dinner was so-so. But they show was great! We did cover alot of Limas downtown and central area...got some historical background on the country and the different neighborhoods. Because we only have one night in Lima, I don't regret going on the tour. It was fun.
