MISTURA 2013

Travel through Peru’s culinary wonders in one single visit to Mistura, the largest annual food festival in South America. The event brings together small farmers from all over Peru, cooks, bakers, foodies, top Chefs and locals, all sharing a passion for food. Mistura is an explosion of the senses and a true celebration of Peru’s rich history and culture, not to be missed.

So, is anybody going? Unfortunately the website is still missing a lot of new information (has most of the 2012 info on it)

Luckily the facebook page is better updated and the new location is presented:

This time the festival will be on Costa Verde, near the water. Which is great in my opinion.

I'm planning to spend a full day there and try out lot's of foods.

I have looked into buying the entrance tickets but there are two options for the tarifas: one is General 01 and one is General 05 but they are both the same price (20 soles) and both for adultos. Confusing. Did any of you buy the entrance tickets yet?

Thanks for that Facebook link I hadn't seen it yet.

Last year there was no difference in the tickets, they were just in different blocks. Teleticket can be a bit of a nightmare. You just keep trying until it goes through. Be sure to have pencil handy and write down the time and any codes. Last year sometimes I got only partway. At first I was worried that there would be multiple charges, but if my transaction was not completed, they would reverse it automatically. You will have to go to a supermarket to pick up the actual tickets if it is like last year (be sure to read instructions on what you need to pick them up).

Will you be in Lima for much time before the event? It may be worthwhile just going to a supermarket such as Metro and buying the tickets in person, instead.

Photos from last year's festival. It was a lot of fun. I went for three days!

Like with LAN sa airpass, facebook seems to always be better updated . They have quite a few links and videos there.

Yeah, I have the day before in Lima as well, if I have no luck online I'll just buy them on the spot.

Woaaa, those are some mouth-watering pictures. Not very good if you're on your way to work and didn't have breakfast yet!

Yup I'm going! If you do want to try to buy the advance tickets (you only save about $2) the Teleticket site was less of a problem than last year.

http://www.teleticket.com.pe/

First create your account, then you can "buscar" for Mistura. Be sure you have the right date clicked before continuing to purchase. They take Mastercard that is eligible for Secure Code. No Visa cards.

In Lima, you need to go to a Wong or Metro, with the actual credit card you used, copy of your passport and original, and copy of the confirmation. Bring two copies of everything just to be safe. They will then give you the ticket.

It is probably easier to just pay the extra 5 soles, you can to to the supermarket and buy them there in advance. I doubt they will sell out.

Do not buy tickets from scalpers outside of the venue, there have been problems with counterfeits.

Busses are supposed to be running to the new venue in Magdalena del Mar, we'll see.

Yeah, I decided to wait and buy it on the spot. We've moved houses two weeks ago so it's been crazy around here, no mood in buying anything . Less that two weeks till we go though!

I'm waiting to see what they arrange for official transportation. I saw turibusperu offers transportation + tickets for 45 soles.
http://www.turibusperu.com/en/tour/1...you-to-mistura

But "Departures are subject to a minimum number of passengers".

I'll go on the 31st of August (first day we're in Lima) to check if they have availability for 10th or 11th of September (when we'd like to go)

Even if the Turisbus transport/ticket package sells out, there should still be event tickets. The weekends are very crowded, so take the first bus available if you go that route.

I bought tickets for the 12th and 13th.

I found a notice that there are 2500 taxis contracted, flat rate to leave the fair but you are at their mercy when arriving!

They will announce arrangements for public busses on the 21st.

Hopefully by the time we arrive things will be organized
