International transfer Santiago

Hi Guys!

I'm planning on making a trip from New zealand ( Auckland) to Mexico City with a connecting flight on Santiago ( SCL). Both flights are with LATAM , I'm just wondering how does international transfers work on Santiago. Do I need to go by immigration and customs and also pay the reciprocity fee? My plan is to just travel with a carry on and wait in the airport until my flight to Mexico City departs.

When flew from Auckland to Lima via Santiago with Lan a few years ago our bags were checked through and we just stayed in the transit area. No need to go through immigration or customs. as UK citizens we don’t pay reciprocity fees but would have though if you are not passing through immigration there would be nothing to pay.

As always with connecting flights, I would make sure both are on the same ticket.

US citizens no longer pay a reciprocity fee for Chile.

I don't know about other countries.

Only Australians pay a reciprocity fee. Not sure what passport you carry. If you can get your bags tagged to your final destination you just stay in the transit area.
