Foodies,
you haven't said where you are planning to access the Amazon from so here are a couple of ideas. You could fly Lima to Iquitos and stay at one of the Explorama properties, http://www.explorama.com/ (I recommend Ceiba Tops) to spend time on the Amazon mainstream which we found fascinating last year.
If you are seeking a more remote Amazon experience you can fly to Puerto Maldonado from Cusco and choose a lodge in the Tambopata Reserve or other in the vicinity. I am intrigued by this place and have it on my list for 2012, http://www.wildland.com/trips/accomm...on_center.aspx. Alternatively, it is possible to drive over the Andes from Cusco and overnight at Cock of the Rock Lodge, Paradise Lodge or Manu Cloudforest Lodge before continuing on downstream to Manu Wildlife Center (there are a couple of other less expensive options)and returning to Cusco from Puerto Maldonado. Photos from our 2010 trip are at http://www.wildland.com/trips/accomm...on_center.aspx
Happy planning,
Pol

www.peruforless.com good
Andes to Amazon itineraries
have a look.
Personally in 2 weeks would follow the "Gringo Trail"
to Paracas Nasca Arequipa Colca Titicaca Cusco/MP
pick up www.manuadventures.com from Cusco for my jungle
Cheaper less flying hassle you will see lots more.
Careful research yields better experience
insuremytrip.com always wise many stikes weather issues
www.andeantravelweb.com www.culturalimmersion.org 2 nice sites

Thanks for the replies. We are thinking Puerto Maldanado for the amazon trip, maybe 3-4 days in a lodge. We will leave atleast 2 days in Lima toward the end for the restaurants and i have heard that the food there is amazing!!
