Food budget
I know this is a tough question and depends on many things, but how much would you expect to spend on food on a trip to Peru. We are a family of 5 -- 3 males who are big eaters and 2 females, not such big eaters. While we'll probably splurge on a special dinner or two, on the average what should we expect to spend? We will be staying 3 nights in Cusco, 3 nights in Olly, 2 nights in Lima (approximately)
Thanks for any suggestions you have.

If you are willing to forgo tourist restaurants you can eat a great lunch for about $5 USD and dinner for about $10 (not including alcohol). Many lodgings include a nice breakfast, if yours doesn't I'd shop arround. For tourist places you can triple that amount.
In Cusco I found Los Toldos chicken which has HUGE portions.
My splurge was at the buffet at the Sanctuary hotel ($33 pp).

I ate fine at nice but local places for $10 pppd lunch dinner.
add for upscale restaurants $20 or so per day.
Sanctuary Lodge buffet biggest tourist rip off in MP Peru
www.indiofeliz.com far better cheaper by 2/3

In my opinoin, Indio Feliz in AC was one of the best restaurants I visited during our trip to Peru! In order to get to MP, you have to go through the town of AC anyway, so you can visit it either before or after your trip to MP. The bus ride from AC to MP is only 30 minutes. Indio Feliz was excellent! My buddy and I decided to split their price-fixed dinner, which they happily split for us in the kitchen, and was still more than enough food for two hungry guys!
