Estancias (around ) BA and custom leather.
We will be in BA for 10 days in Nov...we'd like to go to an estancia..not TOO far from BA.
Also we would like to know about custom leathergoods and shopping in general...anyone have opinions? I KNOW the answer , that's what makes this forum GREAT !

There are different kinds of estancias and we don't know what you want.
Check out http://tinyurl.com/mp9kyw to find out if that is what you want.
There is a huge number of posts about "custom leathergoods and shopping in general", both in this forum and elsewhere.
Have a great time in our country.

Thanks ,av, this is such a great forum...it's been immensely helpful to us in planning our trip...
We would like (as far as an estancia) just an overall nice day, not too far, yummy food, nice people, gentle riding, scenery...a real gaucho experiance.

I am not sure what kind of shopping you are interested in - but I found this site for the boutiques in Palermo (I am planning on spending at least a day of my trip trolling them
)

It is true that there are totally different kind of estancias, if you care to ride on horseback and enjoy it, plus a lovely asado , and also tea time and breakfast, that is a full day in a estancia plus the horse riding I suggest
://www.estancialosdoshermanos.com/ we had a wonderful day there, great hosts, they take the outmost care in matching riders and horses, so even if you know very little about riding horse you will be fine if on the contrary you love horseriding the shall give you the right horse too.

You can read about the estancia Graziella5b suggests here:

It should allow you to judge whether or not that is the kind of experience you are looking for. No dancing gauchos here!
