Ecuador - Tap Water Question

I'll be traveling by motorcycle for about a week in Ecuador. I'm bringing a 3L CamelBak hydration pack.

Would tap water be safe to drink if treated with Katadyn Micropur tablets?

Thanks.

I've been told that water in the Andes is pretty good although high mineral content can cause problems.

Bottled water is very cheap, personally I would stick to that.

Thanks. Bottled water was easy to find, even while way up in small mountain villages.
