Cotopaxi Day Tour

Will be in Quito and hoping to do a Cotopaxi Day tour. Any suggestions on guides or tour groups?

Thanks!

It's difficult to find a day tour to Cotopaxi where you join a group. At the end of the day tourism in Ecuador is still in its fledgling stages and there isn't enough tourism to have day tours running to places such as Cotopaxi and for it to be financially viable.

There are companies like Grayline Ecuador - your typical 'bus tour' who may offer group tours on certain days, but if you want to hike / walk then it's probably not the best option for you.

If you want to bike, there are tour operators like the Biking Dutchman and they take mountain biking groups to Cotopaxi for the day. So if you like mountain biking this would be a great option for you.

We offer walking tours but a private walking tour to Coto for the day esp. if there is only one of you travelling does work out pretty steep. I can help with just a driver too (you'd have to contract a local guide on arrival at the National Park) - if you don't find any other options.

When stayed in Quito last year for our language course we visited many on the travel operators in Mariscal, some seemed good, other less so, but most seemed to be offering day trips and happy to put our names on a list for a group. In the end we decided not to bother with Cotopaxi as it seemed to be covered in most the entire time we were there. One of the operators that do offer a trip is http://www.happygringo.com/mix-ecuad...adventure.html $80 private $50 we didn't use them but they seemed fine.

In the end we decided to take our downhill bike trip at Chimborazo near Riobamba. Definitely worth considering if you are heading that way, one of more memorable rides of my life!!

Detail as and photos on our blog below. I think we paid $100 for the two of us which was a bargain

Hi, maybe it is easy for you, to come to the country first, and then there are a lot of agencies where can help you with that, Cotopaxi, is not far away from Quito, you can do that in one day, but, I think it is necesary to stay in Quito for a few days in order to aclimatize with the altitude. Anyway have a great time in the middle of the world! Good Luck!
