Gavin, thanks so much for the update. I am going to Argentina and Chile for 6 weeks this winter, and your information is a huge help. Are you saying to try for a CITI ATM every time, so I can withdraw more than 300 pesos?
I'll be using a ScotiaBank card and assume it will be ok. I'll take another card as a back up.
It sounds like I'd be wise to use my Visa whenever I can.
They didn't ever want to charge US$ to your Visa , did they?
( Not quite sure what I mean, but a few years ago , in Ireland, they wanted to put the charge against my Visa in US$ )

Kodi, if I could go back and do it again I would have recalled WillTravel's post and tried an extra large withdrawal at Citi. Our CIBC and TD cards were fine for 600 pesos at Bano de la Nacion, which has many branches. My credit union card was limited to 320 pesos the two times we tried it there but OK for 600 pesos the one time we were at a Citi branch.

*** ATMs in Buenos Aires are charging 11.45 pesos for each transaction. ( this is plus the fee your own bank will charge) But they raised the amounts that you can take out at one time. I don't think there are any banks who only allow $300 to be withdrawn anymore.. my husband routinely takes out $900 and 1,000.

Scarlett, thanks for the update. I hope that's the case in the other cities I'll be visiting.. not that I want to be wandering around with too much money. But more than 300 is good. Darn those fees, anyway.
