My husband went from Iquique to Calama to Salta. He doesn't remember the name of the bus line. He says the trip was punishing tho' it was only 14 or 15 hrs. Spent an hour at the border at 4200m. Everyone was moving like a zombie.

Huentutu, andesmar do indeed have it as Atacama. No wonder I couldn't find it! Unfortunately their only bus departs at 1.00am..

Thanks for the info Bedar, fortunately, we are well acclimatised so the altitude won't be a problem for us and although 12 hours in bus is no ones idea of heaven, we are used to that too. I am hoping that the scenery will make up for the discomfort, well maybe!
