Average Temperatures in South America in November

I'm going on a 2-week trip to Argentina, Brazil and Chili next month, 11/1/10 to 11/16/10.

I'm wondering how to pack. It would be early summer in S.A. Might I run into really hot temperatures and high humidity? Or would it be more like spring weather here in the northern hemisphere? Jeans and blouses with a sweater thrown in okay? Or white capris and summer tops?

The cities we'll visit are Santiago, Puerto Montt, and Puerto Vara in Chili.

Then we drive through the lake region and to Argentina, where we stay at Bariloche, Buernos Aires and take a tour in the Pampas, and the Argentine side of Iguassu Falls.

Next, we see the Brazilian side of the Falls and visit Rio De Janeiro.

I've googled average temperatures, but not really gotten a definitive answer for certain cities in these 3 countries.

Thanks so much, in advance.

We travelled in the region in Oct -Dec 2008 and experienced just about every sort of weather condition you could imagine. Santiago, Valaparaiso & Northern Chile were very warm - shorts and T shirts. Iguazu was hot and humid - again shorts and t shirts.

Further south we spent some time in Pucon where it was more like spring - clear blue skies and 20c daytime but much cooler at night (i.e. long pants and a fleece). We then crossed into Argentina drove through the lakes from San Martin to Bariloche. This was a LOT colder i.e. snow, rain ice. Maybe we were unlucky but we were glad of fleeces and waterproof jackets!

We were in Buenos Aires for a month in Dec and had very pleasant weather more or less the whole time but I am not sure how differrent it will be in Nov.

Have fun it is a great part of the world to visit.

"The cities we'll visit are Santiago, Puerto Montt, and Puerto Vara in Chili."

It is Chile not Chili. Not everywhere will have the same temperature. Santiago will be warm to hot during the day and cool at night. Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas will be cooler and can be wet in spring still. The jeans/shirt/sweater plus a light fleece and waterproof would do all three places.

Boy, I DID misspell the heck out of Chile, didn't I?

Thank you so much for your replies. Checking temps in those areas, it appears to be 50-80 deg F right now.

I leave on Monday. Have packed jeans, blouses, as well as a leather jacket, muffler amd gloves.

With only one suitcase and carryon allowed for 2 weeks, it's difficult. I'm sure there will be some things I wish I'd packed.

Just returned from Buenos Aires. Everyone was commenting on how it was finally getting "warm" - but locals were still bundled up in fleeces, many with hats and scarves - it was about 65 F during the day but went down about 25 degrees at night.
