We had fine tours with Eternautus, BA Historico, and Cicerones (free tours) and the Free Walking Tours of BsAs are very well reputed. There is now a hop-on-hop-off Bus Tour available, as well (with some mixed reviews, but not much to loose). Quite a few reviews mention specific guides who might suit your interests. You might want to search on TA, as well.
Have fun.

I was this year on March in Buenos Aires, I arrived on a cruise ship and we booked with them a city tour in the afternoon and tango show. We found the city tour very complete, it was a wonderful sightseeing afternoon with a nice guide, at the tango, the dinner and the show was also very good. I was very pleased with the attention they give to the customers. In first place, all their representative speak fluent English which is very helpful, and In my case, after advising them that the ship would be at a certain pier, when we boarded the ship we found it was at a different pier I was afraid that the transportation would not find us and hence we would miss the show, but I managed to contact them to some emergency mobile they gave to us and pick-up and return was also perfect. I understood from one of the managers that they contract the services of local operators, which means they are not doing the tours, they offer the booking platform and they arrange everything for you, so I paid with my credit card, I received immediate notification and English assistance.
If I should happen to be in Buenos Aires again I will certainly use their services and I recommend them strongly.
