Airplane ticket from Lima to Cusco (Cuzco)
We were surprised by the cost of the airline tickets from Lima to Cusco. We checked all four of the recommended airlines. I read somewhere that a travel agent may be able to get you a better deal. Has anyone tried this? If so, who did you use? (I also want to make sure that the travel agent doesn't book us the Peruvian resident fare causing problems with our boarding. LAN now checks residency at check in and charges a big fee if you book a Peruvian rate and are not Peruvian.) Thanks!

Try one of the alternative airlines, Star Peru, TACA or Peruvian Airlines. They are cheaper than the LAN Base Plus fares which a travel agent or yourselves may be able to book on the LAN Peru version. You do not qualify for BASE fares, A travel agent should not book you the BASE fares either. However be careful and do not use an intermediate website (such as traficoperu) or you may wind up with the ineligible airfares.
Another option, do you have AA frequent flyer miles? The can be used on LAN.

www.traficoperu.com www.despegar.com cheap comp sites
FF miles cheapest of course if you can make those work...

Peruvian currently $99 each way best high season deal...
they do tend to go back down in the fall...
LAN is the only one
that charges the rip off $178.50
"non-resident" fee careful there
No worries with any of the others...
