Has anyone stayed at the Aldebaran Hotel & Spa or the Llao Llao? Don't need
all the ammenities offered but it's a beautiful setting.We will probably have a car to drive around, but I am still concerned that both hotels are rather remote and we would like to be able to visit the town and go out for dinner in the evenings as well. We will be staying 3 days/2nights. Has anyone stayed at Aldebaran or can
you suggest a really nice place closer to town?

I dislike the town of Bariloche, even though I love the general area.

I have often stayed at the Llao-Llao and I don't consider it "remote", certainly not if you have a car. Besides the hotel's restaurants, there are several good restaurants less than half an hour away by car.

If you like meat, don't miss "El Boliche de Alberto".

I think you convinced me and we'll stay farther away from
town. We'll definitely try "El Boliche de Alberto".

I was also born in Argentina, but left when I was 12 years old. Have gone to Bs. As. a few times since then, but this time around my daughter is coming with me and since it's her first time in Argentina I want her to have the best experience ever.

At what time of the year are you planning to come?

Consider staying in a private home instead of a stuffy hotel. You can rent a lakefront for cheaper than a room at the Llao Llao.

And many of the best restaurants in Bariloche are close to Llao Llao, not in the city center.

I stayed at the Llao Llao about a month ago and agree with the comment above that it is a more pleasing locale than the town of Bariloche itself. There were many restaurants between town and the Llao Llao, so you do not need to go all the way there to eat away from the hotel, and I was surprised that the road was very well lit, so driving at night was not a problem. Don't know anything about the other hotel you mention. We used the hotel's transfer from the airport and got our rental car from the Hertz kiosk at the hotel.

I don't think the Llao-Llao is "stuffy", but I guess it's a matter of taste.

The problem with renting a private home is that, until you are there, you don't know exactly what you have chosen. Some may be wonderful, others not so good.

And then, the other problem with renting a private home versus a hotel is that you cannot say: "I don't like it, I'm checking out." You are hooked.

Well in the case of the private homes we rent, they are all top notch, fully equipped, and our guests always leave satisfied.
