Is LAN the only airline to Cuzco?

We're considering using up some AA miles to get to Lima in the next couple of months before moving out of the hemisphere. Hoping to work in a budget trip to Cuzco for 3 (two adults, one toddler just under 2) but just from LIM to CUZ is over a $1000 USD, even with her on our lap.

Is there a cheaper solution that doesn't involve multi-day bus rides? Would be open to a different approach than through Lima if necessary and not too crazy.

Thanks,
Cliff

Are you looking at the Peru Version of LAN? There are cheaper fares (nonrefundable nonchangeable) called Base which do not show up on the international versions of the websites. Just plugging in some random dates in September I got $412 for the three of you. If you're okay with that condition (allow a day's leeway on your international flights and buy trip insurance?)

Some people have been able to buy these fares online but others haven't been able to complete the purchase, if this happens try traficoperu.com .

We worked with Adventure Holidays Peru to organize our two week trip in April, including the purchase of our domestic air tickets. Saved a bundle by having someone local buy them for us as I wasn't having much luck doing it myself online. You might consider going that route with a local company of your choice.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'd come across Star Peru after I posted, but wasn't sure how stable or reliable they were.

The idea of the internal agency makes sense. I don't know if we'd be interested in any tours, but they do seem to have good domestic airfares. Traficoperu.com seemed very straightforward.

Very helpful, thanks to you all.

If you are using AA miles, get a partner award that includes LAN-Peru for the LIM-CUS segments. Unfortunately, AA has changed to one way awards that no longer allow international stop-overs so Cuzco would be the final destination.

Not a bad idea drtravels. Unfortunately, we can't quite squeeze out enough miles for all of us for a partner award.
