A question about AMNH Starry Nights (NYC)

This Tapas and Jazz Friday night event sounds great. Have you attended? Their website says it's only the "first" Friday of the month. Other sites (including Fodors) say it is "every" Friday. Which is true? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for "every Friday."

This does sound nice. How does admission work? If you were not visiting the museum that day, but wanted to attend the evening activities do you still need to buy a museum admission ticket for the jazz/tapas? Or is there a separate charge?

Got my answer - I contacted them directly today - it is the first Friday of every month. Margie, to answer your question admission to the museum $12 for adults covers Starry nights as well. At least, that's what I glean from the website: http://www.amnh.org/rose/specials/jazz/

I'm disappointed to be missing it this time as well. It would have been great because our hotel is only 2 blocks from the AMNH. But I'd love to hear a personal account from anyone who has attended this event.

I've been a couple times, it's quite nice, the museum stays open late and there's wine, beer and jazz as well as tapas in the main room of the Rose Center where the planetarium is. BTW, general admission to the museum is $12 suggested, but you can pay whatever you want.

Anyone not willing to spend $12 for that program plus the museum itself?

No Howard, I think that $12 for a full day at the Museum and the Starry Nights evening is very reasonable.
