28 day apartment in KL??
Visiting Kuala Lumpur for a month. Looking for decent apartment for me and the Mrs. Need close access to metro or monorail. one bedroom (not studio), washing machine, AC. Looking to spend LESS than 4400 RM. Looking for ideas or suggestions on where to look besides AirBNB. Perhaps a local method like visiting apartment buildings and speaking to FM for the property asking about any sublets in the bldg... or is that a big 'no no'?
Need suggestion muy pronto. Leaving my hotel in 2 days and want to get into the apartment...
FYI, Americans ... some places may prefer or may deny rentals to US folks...

I have generally used Airbnb or VrBO for longer term rentals where I feel there is a t least a chance of some support if things go awry. Going direct to the buildings and trying to do deal direct is fraught with problems! You may want to check out one of the Malaysia sites like property guru.com.my or shortstay.com.my etc. Only pay deposit or rent by cc.

Thanks MmePerdu! Two things....
First: I actually booked a monthlong apartment through Booking.com. I check out of my hotel today to move into the apartment. As luck would have it, my wife and I ran over to see the apartment before we checked in to see if it was as appeared on the website. They informed me that my reservation will not be honored because they no longer have any apartments for us to occupy. I asked them if what they're telling me is that my guaranteed reservation will not be honored? They told ME to cancel the reservation. I said no. I have no other place to stay at this last minute. They told me that I don't have to cancel but that they have no apartment available, regardless.
Second: I contacted 2 agents on the propertyguru.com website that represent MANY rental apartments in Kuala Lumpur. After answering all of their questions on needs, duration, # of people, budget, check in/out dates... they curtly told me that if it's less than a year, I'm SOL. When asked for suggestions on where else to pursue a 30 day lease or to sublet, all I got was the sound of crickets.... NO RESPONSE!
So, let me thank you (sincerely) for your suggestion of booking.com. We've used them in the past in other countries but I have never had the experience of 'no notification' until arriving at check-in that your reservation is not going to be honored. Kind of makes me lose a heck of a lot of confidence in Booking.com's reservation process and peace of mind on having a place to stay waiting for us... The Mrs. and I will figure out this new dilemma. The name of the game in traveling is flexibility. We learned that more than 40 years ago! Peace to you and yours...

I’m very surprised to hear your tale. Have you contacted booking.com & told them what happened? On the rare occasion I’ve had a problem with a booking made on the site they’ve been very responsive & solved the problem. Give it a try if you still need a place. I suspect they may provide an alternative. In any case, I like your attitude & hope it all gets sorted out satisfactorily.
Last time I was in KL 2 years ago I stayed a week at Hotel Tianjing & loved it. Not expensive if you need a stopgap.
