Problem with British Air

We were bumped off a flight from Amsterdam to London which caused multiple problems and an additional night at a hotel. We put in a request for refund with BA to no avail. Does anyone know where to lodge a complaint with an outside agency to take up our cause? We’re getting nowhere with BA.

There are lots of missing details. Did you decline rebooking by BA and make your own plans? And the reason you were 'bumped'. Was the flight overbooked or was it cancelled or ??

Maybe register and post over on the British Airways forum on FlyerTalk. But be sure to include all the relevant details -- flight #/date, class of service and whether fully refundable or not, what BA offered you if anything, what you did after being denied boarding (accept their offer if there was one, decline it and make your own arrangements, what ever).

The more you tell them the more detailed suggestions the experts on FlyerTalk can give you. There are BA insiders and even staff who regularly post there. They can be enormously helpful

OH -- is this 'bumping' related to your earlier thread? British Air Misery

That was months ago, and if it was weather related that puts an entirely different spin on things. Definitely head over to FT and beg for suggestions/help. I wouldn't set my hopes too high though

I recently went to FlyerTalk to ask a question. You have to register in order to ask a question, which is fine. However, in order to register for a free account, they wanted my credit card, which is not fine with me.

Understandable. But just some additional info -- FlyerTalk is run by IB, the same people as Fodors. It is a huge and totally legit site and many people are on both sites.

I don't question their legitimacy. I worry more about hacking and phishing. One of the reasons I use PayPal is to allow me to buy from small businesses whose net security might not be optimal.

I totally understand -- no question that might be an issue. it is just that when there is a specific air travel question they can usually answer it in a couple of minutes -- especially on the BA forum which is VERY active. But also -- it is often easy to find answers to one's questions without having to register. Just about every air travel issues known to man has come up there so by reading through the various forums (they are pretty strict that thread titles should reflect the actual subject) someone elses similar question has been asked/answered.

(but this OP didn't follow up when s/he posted six months ago so doubtful this time will be any different)

I second this. I regularly read the BA forum on FT as that is the main carrier we use for overseas flights. The people on that forum are amazing; some of them fly multiple times per week are are well versed in all things BA. There are stickies for claims against BA that you can look at for information without registering. I'm a huge fan, plus they can be extremely entertaining -- gotta love the British sense of humour.
